Throwing it back five years ago, with me and my girl Star. Love you boo boo!
Bark & Clark Downtown Dog Training
Bark & Clark provides private training and group classes in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles for all dogs; the young and restless, the stubborn senior and just those who need to spruce up their downtown city manners.
Tamara Clark, is a Certified Trainer and practices reward based training. Tamara is a strong believer in exercise of the mind and body, time for entertainment and play, and most importantly, lots of love and affection.
I had the privilege to sit in on one of Tamara's Puppy Obedience Classes she hosted at dtlavets last week-three words, puppies are crazy!
Tamara went over, stay, leave it and recall training. What I really loved about this class and Tamara's style of training is the positive interaction she constantly displayed with owner and dog. The key to a great mutual respectful relationship is to achieve full mental stimulation to keep doggy interested and constantly engaged.
If looking for a trainer in Downtown LA, I highly recommend Tamara from Bark & Clark for your puppy or adult dog needs!
Adoptable Lu Parker Project/South LA Shelter Pups
What a fun filled doggy weekend!! Yesterday I spent the morning at the South LA Shelter taking photos of some of the many doggies that are ready to get the eff out of jail. Neal Lett, one of the awesome Lu Parker Project volunteers was the best doggy wrangler/kiss receiver/dog whisperer assistant ever! I'm really happy with how the pictures turned out and really hope that with these fun Halloween pics, the babies will have a better chance at getting some potential human parents!
Downey Shelter Dogs That Need Out ASAP
Here are some of my favorites from this past Saturday at the Downey Shelter.
Please check their page and Available Dogs album for more doggies and updates on each dog.
Ciclavia Pups//DTLA October 6th, 2013
Another beautiful day in DTLA! Ciclavia is one of the coolest outdoor events in L.A. I have got to experience! Basically, streets in the heart of Downtown L.A. are designated only for bikes, runners, walkers, strollers, bladers- pretty much anything that can get you around town, besides the car. Apparently this is how many cities in Europe function on a daily, were just a little behind! This awesome event happens about four or five times a year, and is always a great time- especially, seeing all the cute doggies on or besides their human masters bike!
Here were some of my favorite from yesterday!
For more Ciclavia pics from last year, check out my facebook page album:
Bark N' Bitches, Los Angeles's First Humane Pet Shop
Lots of Bitch'n going on this Fall so far!
I recently made my way over to Bark N' Bitches in Hollywood to check out the store and see what all the fuss was about. I was pleasantly surprised!
When you immediately walk in, you are greeted by tons of rescue dogs just roaming the store, being doggies!
Shannon, the owner also runs a rescue, Jimi's Angels which pulls most of their dogs from Downey, the shelter I volunteer at-super cool!
I had a total blast hanging out there; meeting the cool and helpful staff, awesome customers and most importantly the cuddly and sweet furry babies looking for their forever homes while getting to socialize with each other and the humans stopping by.
Geraldine was my favorite!
I happened to be there when a student was working on a project and go to make a little appearance in her video :)
I also will be hosting a Howl-o-ween Pawtrait Photo Session there next Saturday- so feel free to stop by and get your mammal Spooky Pawtrait done for Halloween this year!
For more info on Bark N' Bitches please visit their website and Facebook page!
Bitches n' Blankets Photos!
Thank you to each and everyone one of you who came out to support the South L.A. Animal Shelter this past Saturday with your generous donations! It was so cool to meet and photograph so many fun people and their furry children. Downtown L.A. is such a cool community and I'm so proud to be apart of it.
I plan on doing other events like this in the near future, especially with the holiday season right around the corner- so please stay tuned for future dates and locations.
Now onto the main attraction!
"Bitches n Blankets" Saturday, September 28th, 2013
I am so excited for this event, Bitches n' Blankets, that my buddy Rocco at Round2LA are throwing this Saturday!! If in the Downtown Los Angeles, you for sure should stop by with your pooch and a used blankie to get a complimentary "pawtrait" with me!!
Go team go!!
Fosters needed for Dachshund Rescue of Los Angeles
Who doesn't love wiener doggies? Little German schnitzels. These little nuggets below, and others like them are in need of fosters-humans that will take them into their home while Tamara, a very dedicated woman tries to find them their forever home. All you need to do is provide them with lots of love, a warm bed, food and maybe some manners too :) Without fosters, more wieners stay in jail, aka the shelter and may not have a chance to get out and be enjoyed by outside humans, like us! If you have any questions or may be interested in fostering, please holler at me. Save a life-foster a wiener!
Downey and South LA Pups that are RTG!
This weekend I met some real cutays at Downey and South L.A. If one of these babies catches your eyes, feel free to share or hit me up if you want more info!! xo
Downey Pups:
Rasta
I met Rasta and her owner Eric at the L.A.P.D park the other day. Rasta is a Pitbull/Jack Russell Mix-What a lover!! I have never met such a mix before. I was intrigued by her Pittie body and her Jack Russell coloring, tail and ears- so cute!
Eric told me he had rescued Rasta from death row and now Rasta never leaves his sight. I truly love hearing stories like that. Everyone should have the opportunity to receive and give love from dog- our best friends!!

Fun Facts About Red Nose Pitties!
I Love Pitbulls. They are so loving, smart, and loyal!
Here are some fun facts about the red beauties that all humans should know:
Red nose pitties found their way to America mainly via Irish immigrants.
They are a result of close inbreeding of the 'Old Family' strain of pit bulls in the mid-1800s.
They were initially bred for working on farms.
Purebred red nose pit bulls are much sought after because they are very rare, and efforts have been made to preserve the 'Old Family' strain.
They may have a streak of stubbornness in them, but are very courageous, intelligent, and always ready to please their owner, which makes them highly trainable.
This breed is generally robust and healthy. However, some are prone to genetic and non-genetic health problems which include hip dysplasia, hereditary cataracts, allergies, and heart diseases.
Red nose pit bulls prefer warm weather. They can live in apartments, as long as they get plenty of exercise. Daily walks and exercise is a must, these dogs are very energetic and tend to be unhappy without sufficient exercise. The breed's agility makes it one of the most capable canine climbers, so good fencing around the house is a must.
Favorite 2013 DTLA Summer Time iPhone Pics
These are some of my favorite iPhone pics I took this summer in Downtown Los Angeles, my favorite city neighborhood :)
RIP Lucky
I met Lucky and Buddy about a month ago at Art Walk in DTLA. I saw them on the street with their owner, Marvin and asked him if I could take their photo. They were adorable, two little white fluffy mammals. A week or so later I got a message from Marvin asking if I could watch them for a few days while him and his wife, Dominique go on a little Mexico vacation. Hell yes, I would-it was love at first sight for me, I hope for them too :) After five days of non-stop fun with Lucky and Buddy I was sad to give them back to their parents, but that is just apart of this doggy dog job! A couple weeks after their visit I got a text from Marvin, asking if I could do a Pawtrait session for the two little boys in the next couple days, again, hell yes I would. The reason the photos had to be taken in the next couple days was that Lucky the more shy, reserved, super skinny baby was sick, fatally sick. Lucky had tumors in his body that were cancerous, that could not be removed and were effecting his health and organs severely :( Lucky only had a few more days to live until he had to be put to asleep, so that he wouldn't suffer anymore and endure more pain that comes with his sickness. Talk about tragic :(
We had a great time taking their photos, although we knew that this would be his last. Like dogs, we tried to live in the moment and not dwell on the past or get caught up in emotions.
Saying goodbye to your pet is never ever easy. Probably one of the hardest things us humans may ever have to do in our lives. Time heals everything, I think. We can remember the good times and know that our little babies are always with us in spirit :)
I love you Lucky! xo
This baby stole my heart
I was at the Downey Shelter this past Saturday taking photos of the homeless pups and this particular baby broke my heart. Willie is a young, shy homeless mutt who has a very noticeable overbite, that looks painful. I have never seen anything like it. Although he is eating and drinking normally, I can't imagine such a large overbite feels good :( We all have cosmetic defaults, whether some are obvious or not, but Willie seemed sad and nervous- maybe due to his condition. I want to help him. I wish I had more resources to help these babies, especially the special needs ones. Thank dog for Facebook and it's ability to share a dogs photos and save their lives. I will hope Facebook comes through for Willie, he deserves it!
Flash Back Friday
A little over a year ago, Bella stopped by to get her Pawtraits done. What a little stinker. Bella reminds me of a royal piggy; regal, pig skin chested and edacious in her aristocratic piggy ways . I love her so much <3
Filipino Perros
My boyfriend, Barry, recently took a summer trip to Cebu, Philippines, where his mother's side of family is from. He took photographs of the local doggies as his gift to me. Looking at and enjoying pictures of doggies from around the world is one of my favorite things to do :) -especially when the photographer has a great eye and loves the furry mammals too!
Roaming around LA
LA is tight. Every neighborhood is different and has cool dogs. Here are some snapshots of some doggies from Larchmont and Echo Park. Super sick with it.
Lucky y Buddy
I recently had the had the honor to dog sit Lucky and Buddy. Two very sweet, lovable, and very well behaved step-brothers, who were a delight to watch over while their humans were off to Mexico for a few days.
I can't wait to see them again and enjoy their company!
